Dr. Blake’s Profile

Dr. Thomas Blake
Dr. Thomas Blake graduated from Snider High School in 1973 and went on to Indiana University-Bloomington where he graduated with honors as a Chemistry major in 1977. He attended dental school at Indiana University Indianapolis and graduated on the Dean’s List in 1981.
His first practice started out at the address where his office is today, but in a building that was approximately 900 square feet. Today his office has been thoroughly modernized and after the addition is over 2700 square feet with five different treatment rooms and several auxiliary offices for staff members and patient education as well.
Early in his career, Dr. Blake completed a three year course in general practitioner orthodontics and still values his continuing education opportunities. He and his staff routinely attend advanced training in many areas in order to provide our patients with the most up-to-date service in dentistry. As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, he has earned the hours required to become a Fellow of the Society. This is an honor that is earned by a relatively low percentage of dentists nationwide.
In addition to learning about dental procedures, Dr. Blake and his staff have received extensive training in practice management from The Schuster Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Blake has had the opportunity to deliver the keynote address for the annual Alumni Conference for this organization and intends to pursue other opportunities to help other dental professionals find success and happiness in dentistry.
Dr. Blake’s outside activities include physical fitness activities, scuba diving, church retreats, and Young Life and Campus Life. Over his career he has served in many capacities in his children’s schools and in the Fort Wayne Community School system’s city PTA organization. He was recognized as “Mr. Blackhawk” by the middle school of the same name. He has been instrumental in the effort to procure a stadium for Snider High School and maintains a close relationship with the football staff at that school. He is a past member of the IU Alumni Club of Allen County having served as its president for two years. In addition, he had the honor of serving with the Executive Council for Indiana University for a three year term. He currently sits on the Dental Advisory Council for PHP and serves as its chairman.
Dr. Blake has been recognized as a member of Who’s Who in the areas of health care and small business and was recently recognized as one of America’s Leading Dentists. He is a member of the Isaac Knapp District Dental Society, the Indiana Dental Society, and the American Dental Society. He is a member of the Smile Design Consortium and another Dental Study Club.
Dr. Blake and his wife Christy who is a part-time Dental Hygienist in the office are the proud parents of two sons, Christopher and Matthew who have followed in their parents’ footsteps in attending Indiana University Bloomington.
